| Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of intravenous iron isomaltoside in the treatment of cancer-related anemia (CRA) complicated with iron deficiency, and to compare it with oral ferrous succinate. Methods:A total of 105 patients with CRA complicated with iron deficiency admitted to our hospital from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026 were analyzed and divided into an intravenous iron isomaltoside group (experimental group, 62 cases) and an oral ferrous succinate tablet group (control group, 43 cases). The hemoglobin (Hb) response rate, Hb level, changes in iron metabolism indicators, and drug safety were observed and compared between the two groups at 4 and 8 weeks after treatment. Multivariate analysis was performed to explore the factors influencing therapeutic efficacy. Results: The Hb response rates at 4 and 8 weeks after treatment in the intravenous iron isomaltoside group were 54.8% and 83.1%, respectively. At 8 weeks after treatment, the Hb response rate in the intravenous iron group (83.1%) was significantly higher than that in the oral iron group (54.5%). Intravenous iron significantly increased Hb levels and improved iron stores (e.g., transferrin saturation) as early as 4 weeks of treatment, with a faster onset of action than oral iron. In terms of safety, only one mild adverse reaction occurred in the intravenous iron group, and the overall tolerability was good. Multivariate analysis showed that female sex was an independent favorable predictor of early (4-week) Hb response. Subgroup analysis indicated that the therapeutic advantage of iron isomaltoside was consistent across different tumor types. Conclusion: Intravenous iron isomaltoside is an effective and safe treatment for CRA complicated with iron deficiency. Compared with oral iron, it corrects anemia and iron deficiency more rapidly and significantly. Female patients may achieve better short-term therapeutic efficacy. |
