| Abstract: [Purpose] To analyze the incidence and mortality of malignant bone tumors in Zhejiang cancer registration areas in 2021 and the trend from 2000 to 2021. [Methods] The incidence and mortality data of malignant bone tumors from 2000 to 2021 reported by 22 cancer registries in Zhejiang were collected and sorted. Indicators including crude incidence rate, crude mortality rate, age-standardized incidence rate by Chinese standard population (ASIRC), age-standardized mortality rate by Chinese standard population (ASMRC), cumulative rate (0~74 years old), and truncated rate (35~64 years old) were calculated. The Joinpoint regression model was used to estimate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) together with its 95% confidence interval (CI) of ASIRC and ASMRC, and to analyze the long-term trends. [Results] In 2021, the crude incidence rate of malignant bone tumors in Zhejiang cancer registration areas was 1.13/10? and the ASIRC was 0.80/10?; the crude mortality rate was 0.65/10? and the ASMRC was 0.37/10?. Both ASIRC (0.93/10?) and ASMRC (0.45/10?) in males were higher than those in females (0.69/10? and 0.28/10?, respectively). The urban ASIRC (0.75/10?) was slightly lower than the rural counterpart (0.88/10?), while the urban ASMRC (0.38/10?) was slightly higher than the rural ASMRC (0.35/10?). The crude incidence and mortality rates generally increased with age, rising rapidly after the age of 60 and peaking after 80 years old. From 2000 to 2021, the overall ASIRC and ASMRC of malignant bone tumors in cancer registration areas of Zhejiang Province presented a notable downward trend (ASIRC: AAPC= -6.45, 95%CI:-7.68~-5.11, P<0.001; ASMRC: AAPC=-5.08, 95%CI:-6.29~-3.81, P<0.001). Stratified analysis showed declining trends in ASIRC and ASMRC among males, females and urban populations, while the temporal variation of ASIRC in rural areas was not statistically significant. [Conclusion] The overall disease burden of malignant bone tumors in Zhejiang Province keeps decreasing continuously, and no significant disparities in incidence and mortality are observed between urban and rural areas. |
