| [Objective] To investigate the incidence and mortality of lung cancer in Zhengzhou in 2022 and the trends from 2016 to 2022 based on cancer registration data,so as to provide evidence for lung cancer prevention and treatment strategies.[Methods]Data on incidence and mortality of lung cancer with qualified registration quality were collected from cancer registration offices in Zhengzhou City,Crude incidence, crude mortality,age-standardized rates by Chinese standard population (ASIRC,ASMRC)and world standard population (ASIRW,ASMRW), 0~74 years old cumulative incidence and mortality rates in Zhengzhou in 2022 were calculated. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) was used to analyze the trends in the incidence and mortality of lung cancer in Zhengzhou City from 2016 to 2022 across different gender, age, and urban-rural area. [Results] The crude incidence rate of lung cancer in 2022 was 57.54/105, with an ASIRC of 36.57/105, and ASIRW of 36.09/105. Lung cancer accounted for 20.15% of all newly diagnosed cancer cases. the crude mortality rate was 38.70/105, with an ASMRC of 22.53/105, and ASMRW of 22.43/105, Lung cancer accounted for 26.62% of all deaths from cancers. In 2022, the incidence and mortality of men in Zhengzhou were higher than those of women.Age-specific incidence and mortality rates attributable to lung cancer demonstrated a steep upward trend following the age of 45 years and peaked in the 80–84 years age group. From 2016 to 2022, the crude incidence rate and ASIRC of lung cancer in Zhengzhou exhibited a slow upward trend. Specifically, the ASIRC in females increased significantly, while that in males showed no obvious fluctuation. The crude mortality rate presented an upward trend, whereas ASMRC showed a stable trend—among which the ASMRC in urban areas displayed a downward trend, while that in rural areas had no significant variation. [Conclusion] From 2016 to 2022, the incidence of lung cancer in Zhengzhou showed a slow upward trend, while the mortality rate of lung cancer showed a stable trend. Lung cancer mainly occurs in male and the elderly, but the incidences of lung cancer in female and the middle-aged and elderly population are rising rapidly, which needs to be paid attention to and actively explored. It should be continued to strengthen prevention, screening, early diagnosis, and treatment. |
