Abstract: [Objective] To analyze the incidence and mortality characteristics of prostate cancer in Nantong City in 2021, as well as the changing trends from 2013 to 2021. [Methods] Data on the incidence and mortality of prostate cancer in Nantong City from 2013 to 2021 were collected through the Nantong Cancer Registry Reporting System. Crude incidence (mortality) rates, age-standardized incidence (mortality) rates, truncated rates for the 35-64 age group, and cumulative rates for the 0-74 age group were calculated separately for urban and rural areas;the age-standardized rates were calculated by using Chinese standard population in 2000 and Segi""s world standard population in 1960. The Joinpoint 4.9.1.0 software was used to calculate the average annual percentage change (AAPC) of age-standardized incidence (mortality) rates of prostate cancer and analyze the changing trends. [Results] In 2021, the crude incidence rate of prostate cancer in Nantong City was 41.18/105, the age-standardized incidence rate by Chinese standard population (ASIRC) was 12.62/105, the age-standardized incidence rate by world standard population (ASIRW) was 12.32/105. The crude mortality rate was 13.42/105, the age-standardized mortality rate by Chinese standard population (ASMRC) was 3.40/105, and the age-standardized mortality rate by world standard population (ASMRW) was 3.56/105. The ASIRC and ASMRC in urban areas were higher than those in rural areas. The age-specific incidence rate of prostate cancer peaked in the 80-84 age group, and the age-specific mortality rate peaked in the 85 and above age group. From 2013 to 2021, the ASIRC of prostate cancer in Nantong City showed an upward trend, with the AAPC of 6.86% (P<0.001) . During the same period, the ASMRC of prostate cancer also showed an upward trend, with the AAPC of 3.83% (P<0.05). The incidence rates of prostate cancer in the age groups of 60-69 years, 70-79 years and 80 years and above age groups showed an upward trend(The AAPC were 10.08%, 6.66% and 5.19% respectively, P<0.05). while only the mortality rate of prostate cancer in the age group of 80 years and above showed an upward trend, with the AAPC of 7.12% (P<0.05). [Conclusion] The disease burden of prostate cancer in Nantong City was at a relatively high level, with both the incidence and mortality rates increasing year by year. Special attention should be paid to middle-aged and elderly men, and efforts should be made to strengthen prostate cancer screening and early diagnosis and treatment. |
