Objective: To analyze the trend of thyroid cancer incidence in Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019, and provide basic data for the development of thyroid cancer prevention and control strategies. Methods: The reported data from the cancer registration offices in Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019 were used to calculate the incidence rate of thyroid cancer by region (urban and rural) and gender. The standardized incidence rates were calculated for the Chinese population and the world population, and the annual trends of standardized incidence rates were analyzed. Results: The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in males in Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019 was 3.78/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 2.78/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=27.13%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in urban males was 5.04/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 3.89/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=29.60%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in rural males was 2.82/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 1.99/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=25.90%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in females in Anhui Province from 2010 to 2019 was 12.42/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 8.77/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=27.71%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in urban females was 15.09/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 11.23/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=27.76%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. The crude incidence rate of thyroid cancer in rural females was 10.34/100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 6.94/100,000, showing an increasing trend (AAPC=29.40%, P<0.05), with statistically significant annual changes. Conclusion: The incidence rate of thyroid cancer in Anhui Province is showing a rapid growth trend. It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of thyroid cancer, especially in females, and carry out comprehensive screening and early detection programs. Targeted health education work is needed to reduce the increasing incidence of thyroid cancer in Anhui Province. |
