| Abstract: [Purpose] To analyze the results of colorectal cancer screening among urban residents in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province from 2014 to 2024, and to explore the adherence to colonoscopy screening and its influencing factors. [Methods] Based on the "Urban Cancer Early Diagnosis and Treatment Project" in Nantong City from 2014 to 2024, a total of 196,103 permanent residents aged 40~74 years were recruited as study subjects using cluster sampling. A standardized questionnaire was used to collect information on demographic characteristics, dietary habits, smoking and drinking history, past medical history, and mental health status. The cancer high-risk risk assessment system was used to identify cancer risk populations, and individuals assessed as high-risk for colorectal cancer were mobilized to designated hospitals for colonoscopy screening. Chi-square test was used to compare differences in high-risk rates (compliance rates) among subgroups, and multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze influencing factors. [Results] A total of 196,103 urban residents of Nantong participated in the survey, among whom 32,228 were assessed as high-risk for colorectal cancer, yielding a high-risk rate of 16.43%. A total of 3,869 individuals underwent colonoscopy screening, resulting in an overall screening adherence rate of 12.01%. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that middle-aged and elderly individuals (45~69 years), those with higher education levels, married individuals, those with a history of alcohol consumption, those with a history of hazardous occupational exposure, those with unhealthy dietary habits (preference for hot, dry, and pickled foods), as well as those with depressive mood, a history of lower digestive tract diseases, or chronic diseases, had higher compliance to screening. Women, individuals with a preference for a high-salt diet, and current smokers had relatively lower screening compliance. [Conclusion] Compliance to colonoscopy screening among the high-risk population for colorectal cancer in Nantong City is low. Age, education level, behavioral and dietary habits, past medical history, and mental health status are important factors associated with compliance to colonoscopy screening. |
